Hoxha certainly didn't care as he was too busy eliminating his opponents but certain segments inside the commie elite surely did. There was massive support for Dinamo by the Ministry of the Interior (back the most powerful wing of the government) and Partizani by the Ministry of Defense and they built clubs that were competitive in multiple sports. Other cities also built clubs and the local government was heavily involved. By the 1980's the league was the most competitive it had ever been and 5 different teams won the league from 1980-1984, including two non-Tirana teams: Vllaznia and Labinoti. All the development came a screeching halt in 1991 when the regime fell and every thing fell apart.

The subsequent Berisha regime not only did not care about the sport but actively worked to destroy whatever was left of the historic clubs so they could grab their assets. And then Duka took over and everything went down the tubes.

You probably know shit about how discriminated and underdeveloped Kosovo was during Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia didn't discriminate in sport. They put a lot of emphasis on it.
Dude, stop. Kosova was very much discriminated and only with the constitutional changes in 1974 things started to improve for Albanians which correlates with clubs like KF Trepça and Prishtina starting to enjoy some success and players like Fadil Vokrri, Agim Cana & Prekazi brothers hitting the limelight.

Clubs like Partizan Belgrade, Cervena Zvezda, Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split very successful in many different sports, were either created after WWII by the communists or enjoyed the support of the top communist elite. Not much different to Albania and the communist clubs after WWII.

It's more about culture/tradition imo. Where is your tradition in basketball, waterpolo, volleyball, handball?? All sports south slavs excel at...

You can mention some shitty individual sports nobody cares about like female judo but you are still the opposite of your slavic neighbors in the sports they care about.

Redijupison wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:21 am Kosovars are clearly the superior Albanians and that is very easy to prove. I mean they're better in team and individual sports alike compared to Albania.
Team sports? Absolutely..

Switzerland, Albania, Kosovo, other big European countries have had teams full of Kosovars. Albania broke top 25 with a majority of best players being Kosovars, and they are better at basketball too.

Individual sports? I disagree..

Albanians have been the best weightlifters in the world. Although winning his gold medals for Greece, Pirro Dhima is arguably the best ever. Luan Shabani also medaled in the Olympics. Albanians are more predisposed to individual sports, and I believe that we have a lot of untapped potential there.
Lol, weightlifting is just one sport. Anything else? Kosovars used to dominate in Yugoslavia at individual sports like boxing (Olympic medals) judo and wrestling. Albania has yet to win an olympic medal while Kosovo has already how many of them?

. No doubt, they will be predisposed towards being better at certain sports than people from Albania proper.

This can't be true because Kosovo was the armpit of Yugoslavia when it comes to sports. Slavs always made fun of them for not producing anything in sports.

Fadil Vokrri is the only sport figure they have to show for and that's laughable compared to what their Slavic neighbors produced.

Ex-Yugo states are similar to Catalonia. If Catalonia breaks away and forms a league with Barca, Espanyol, and a bunch of amateurs, it's like Croatia forming a league with DZ, HS, and a bunch of amateurs. But Catalonia benefited from being part of Spain, just like Croatia/Serbia benefited from being part of Yugoslavia.

Modern Albania as a country was never a part of some multi-state entity with tens of million of people. It's more apt to compare it to other small ex-Bloc states like Latvia/Lithuania. (I know they were part of the Soviet Union but Russia destroyed everything that wasn't Russia).
