I think Serbia is stronger than Sweden..

4 wins, 1 loss in 5 games and won last 3 in a row against them.

In UNL 2022/23, Serbia was favoured to beat Sweden both at home and on the road..

Last match was a friendly back in June 2024 where Serbia beat them 0-3 in Stockholm.

That was not the real Sweden. Look at their lineups during their bad spell.... It was a transition period for them. In the upcoming qualifiers they will be more stable and motivated.

Serbia in 14/15 was much stronger than this Serbia... at least on paper. That's when you really didn't want to face them. Prime Ivanovic, Matic, Kolarov, etc... In this Serbia I don't recognize more than half of the squad.
Serbia was definitely much more talented in 2014 and probably by a considerate margin (even if they were massive underachievers then) but you have to worry if our guys will choke under pressure against them. And if we're being honest Serbia still probably has a more talented team than ours despite the gap not being as significant in 2014.

Albania needs to play fast and small against Serbia but I have a feeling Silvinho will be a coward and go defensive with the likes of Seferi.

Honestly there are no easy groups, even North Macedonia cannot do anything against teams like Belgium or Wales with most of welsh players being Premier League players and been in WC in Qatar. All the Pot 1 teams will qualify for WC anyway then it will all depends during PO stage about wich team will be in bigger form or wich one will create the surprise.

But 99% Pot 1 teams will go through except maybe between Swiss/Sweden there are some doubts as Sweden seems to be better. Even the group of Romania, Bosnia etc.. would have been hard for us, Austria would have beaten us up home and away.

Dallku wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:27 pm Of course a team like Switzerland in pot 1 would be nice but even in the Swiss group they have Sweden as pot 2 and Sweden is pretty much pot 1 level with Gyokeres and Isak leading their attack.

I think all groups are more or less equally balanced. Only truly weak one is group J with Macedonia, Wales and Belgium. Macedonia got really lucky! Bosnia's group would've been nice too.

Not really, because the pot1 is a guaranteed 1st.

We could have got a weaker pot1 like Switzerland and had outside chances to win the group, or at least take points off them.

England is a guaranteed two losses so we will have to hope Serbia does not take any points from them and that we get the head to head over Serbia so that we can get playoffs.

Can someone answer how we without exception always draw the very hardest groups in every tournament?

How is it possible we haven't been lucky once? Let alone lucky, how it is possible that we were unlucky every time?

We have just come from likely the hardest group in European Championship history... incredible.

Against Serbia I'm 100% behind Asani doing whatever the f*** he wants. This is a matchup that he is meant for. Might need to trot Daku out there but he'd probably get red carded in the 15th minute.

Dallku wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:00 pm Serbia plays slow and methodical. That's a good matchup for Albania that mostly struggles against pace and high press. They are not the strongest mentally either.
Yeah but they can actually get some points against England. Our players are mental midgets when it comes to big NTs.
