Leeds United striker Edgar Cani struggled up front when he came on against Brighton.
Leeds United fans got more of a look at their new signing Edgar Cani against Brighton, when he came on to play almost the entire second half in the 2-0 defeat.
The Whites were 1-0 down when the Albanian came on, and he was unable to positively impact the game in their favour.
The striker is on loan from Serie B side Catania, and is an unknown quantity in terms of how he will adapt to Championship football and what he has to offer.
In defence of Edgar Cani, the man he replaced offered little more. Steve Morison did not even attempt a shot on goal, and completed only two extra passes in his extra 10 minutes on the field.
This suggests that over reactions to Cani's lack of impact may be harsh, with the entire team under performing.
Head coach Neil Redfearn attributed the defeat, speaking to LUTV, in part to Leeds failing to get midfielders forward to support the strikers, and Sam Byram's absence through injury was sorely felt.
It was not an ideal game to judge Cani on, but at the same time he did not do enough to show he must start against Watford that weekend, and to that purpose, it was a missed opportunity for him.
