Ignorance about and of religion gives you extremists. There's nothing wrong with teaching kids about religion in a sociological and historical way. With your thinking we shouldn't teach them about anything bad in the world. Don't have sex ed, because they're gonna f*** - and if we don't teach them they'll remain virgins, lol.Aurora Bulkualis wrote:Ignorance of religion? Yes, please.
As I said, I'd rather let a couple of idiots become extremists, than start teaching kids about religion. The masses are inherently ignorant. Teaching about religion means presenting the viewpoints that religion is used for brainwashing. Will they do that? No. Better to keep religion altogether away from them, then to start teaching between "good"/"bad", which will definitely make them see religion in a more positive light.
Look at how that's working out in the states in the US where sex ed isn't taught in schools. Look at all the unwanted pregnancies and following abortions they have compared to states who teach.

Except sex is a natural thing and unavoidable. Organized religion is something contrived and artificial, and completely avoidable.Migjeni wrote:Ignorance about and of religion gives you extremists. We're not talking about how natural anything is. We're talking about the idiocy of not teaching about things students will meet in their life. It's a society's duty to gear its people to handle life in the best way possible. Knowledge helps gearing them. Ignorance doesn't.

Your view is that everyone is an empty vessel waiting to be filled with knowledge. My view is that the average person is a fucking moron, that will misinterpret anything thrown at him.
This isn't Denmark. Poor countries are much more susceptible to religion. Better to go the Hoxha/China route (remove it completely), than to play with fire, with illiterate teachers. If Hoxha lasted another 20 years, Albania would be 100% irreligious today. Now only like 1/3rd are religious, but I'll take that over what we had pre-WWII. That number will shrink like it's shrinking almost everywhere.

His stats are on point mostly. The South is virtually irreligious.
