it's not like in germany the youngsters are listening to volksmusik. to get upset about young albanians listening to hip hop and other popular types of music is pretty absurd. it's like that in every country.

It's Tallava domination nowadays. Sad

Is it though? I don't think there's that many tallava songs even if some songs like Lali Shpirt, tequlivava, tallava(flori), etc, were very popular.

Albanian music is severely dominated by Rap and Hip Hop today. Now that's something I can agree with and the whole hip hop culture is dumb. Promote drugs, violence, murder and that OG life
You're right actually Hip Hop dominates. Still the most clicked Albanian song on YT is Te Ka Lali Shpirt with 90 millions hits.. I don't mind listening actually to some of those songs but it looks like most music today is meant to appeal to the lowest common denominator. But you can say the same for music anywhere nowadays, it's a worldwide phenomenon.

That's true. However, while there's been an explosion in Tallava, Oriental and Hip Hop music in Albania at the same time there's been an explosion in Folk music as well. I remember back in the day every region had one representative who would sing the most popular songs of that region on TV and that was it. Now there are hundreds of folk music performers from all regions who are driven by the wedding business and have to compete in the marketplace by generating new and improved content.

The only genre where we have regressed is Rock. There's barely any Rock music currently produced in Albania, the only decent Rock music is coming out of Kosova.

80k is nothing. There are dozens of Albanian songs that have millions of views.

Absolutely correct. There's still a decent underground rock scene but it's very clannish and secluded. But no progress in regards to the rock genre. In the early 90s rock absolutely dominated. Kosova with their hip hop swooped in and hasn't relinquished this position. They've taken over rock too. Any sort of songwriter :D in albanian lands is driven by generic oriental bouncy shit that will sell as long as you put "shqiperi etnike" in the song.
No more Djemte e Detit, Aleksander Gjokas, Ritfolks, Thunderways, Elita 5 or early Gjebreas.
Polifonia is like a foreign phenomenon up north. Korcaret have forgotten their serenata, Shqiperia e mesme has forgotten Napolonin.
