Sometimes I wonder about the agents of these Albanian players. Guys like Kumbulla, Asllani and Broja have awful career choices and yet they never move to a team that will develop them. Someone like Asllani was never ready for Inter after half a year playing for Empoli. Should have stayed another season with Empoli (same with Kumbulla)

It's complicated. No 21 year old is refusing to sign for a big club and fight for a place there. Let's be honest. That's their dream...

Kumbulla and Broja were also unlucky with ACL injuries while they were fighting for a place. What makes it worse is that the injuries also slowed them down. Just an unfortunate situation all around.

Now it's easy to say they made the wrong decisions but at the time everyone was excited.

Kumbulla accepted bench, it was obvious Smalling, Mancini, Ibanez are ahead of him on Roma hierarchy and he didn't force the move. Asllani is doing exactly same thing, he accepted bench and will start only on cup games or when Inzaghi needs to rest players before important matches.

It was performances that put him behind in the pecking order but he had all the chances in the world to earn a starting spot. Kumbulla always performed badly in the games he needed to be the best like the Bodo Glimt disaster. So it was 100% on him but the chances were there. He just failed and then got injured.

It wouldn't make sense for him to force a move while he was fighting and since they invested so much on him they wanted him to prove himself too.

All these guys were in dire of need of player development. They were given chances to prove themselves for the starting lineup, but that's the mentality you should have for experienced players, not players with 6 months to 1 year of starting football.

They needed crucial play time at a delicate moment in their careers and they were either benched or injured.
