A lot of those players aren't starters.Dallku wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:58 pm Sylvinho is being overrated
Anyone could've qualified a team with 12 Serie A players, 2 prem, 3 La Liga, Besiktas/Dinamo Zagreb players to an expanded 24 team Euro.
Don't let Edi Reja's dementia convince you otherwise. Sylvinho didn't do any miracles. Just did the basics. If anything you can argue that he still hasn't gotten the best of them.
That squad doesn't really stand out when compared to other teams of similar level. If all of those players were to be available for transfer, very few of them would fetch more than like 20 mill. Perhaps only Asllani, maybe Broja (even that is doubtful now), maybe Djimsiti, but there isn't a huge amount of quality there compared to similar nations.
Indeed, Poland and Czechs definitely have better squads. Our squad is one of the worst in this tournament, despite being quite good, European competition is very difficult and just having some guys on the books of top5 league clubs isn't always enough.
He has made some errors in his management of these matches, but the team has also very clearly progressed in their play and we can make simple adjustments to be able to take things much further. The team is showing a very high level and undoubtedly if we had drawn an easier group we would be odds on to qualify.

I think that's deceiving. Despite their current form, most of them are experienced and established at professional levels. That's why they should be competitive against anyone.
For example someone like Strakosha who has been a benchwarmer the whole season was a regular starter for YEARS at Lazio. Played in many big games against top opponents. That experience alone plays a role. If you go down the squad you'll notice that most of the players are like that. They are not expected to dominate teams (especially these top teams) but at the very least they should be competitive.

Hysaj is worse than Balliu at both offence and defence. Italy was destroying us in his side.Simboli i Diellit wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:58 pm Hysaj at fault for both goals. Italian media exposing him.

Well, Balliu at least has not given away goals to the opposition like Hysaj did against Croatia.Redijupison wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 11:31 pmLol, when's the last game Balliu has done anything noteworthy with Albania?Aurora Bulkualis wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 11:15 pmHysaj is worse than Balliu at both offence and defence. Hysaj was to blame for both goals, just look at the highlights.
First goal, Kramaric first goes past him and then shoots through his legs.
Second goal, he falls in the ground quite weakly. Also, he keeps the opponent in play. All other defenders were in a straight line.

Hysaj has the worst performance I've ever seen at this level. And I've seen Gjasula play 30 mins. He's a Serie B level player, who got lucky that Empoli and Sarri were promoted. Without Sarri he's not a top league level player.
Pretty big upgrade tbh.

Ysaj was a great player for us back in the day 2014-16..Aurora Bulkualis wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 1:15 am Hysaj has the worst performance I've ever seen at this level. I consider him a legend of the NT!
Marvin Hagler said it best.. “it’s tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5am when you’ve been sleeping in silk pajamas.”
Ysaj done all there is to do, made boatloads of cash, and can’t be bothered anymore! Simple as..

He didn't just qualify. He got #1 in the group. First time in Albania's history.Dallku wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:58 pm Sylvinho is being overrated

GDB was the one who benefited from the 24 team expansion.
I respect GDB's tenure here. But the guy got lucky with the 3-0 DQ win. And he only managed to get #2 in the group (this is after a W against Portugal). And he made many questionable calls during his 7 years here. And on his way out, he had the audacity to say the team peaked and wouldn't qualify for another major tournament.
I don't know, I just can't say he's better than what we have now. There's a reason GDB wasn't able to find work after he left. He got sacked with less than 1 year with his club and then the Azeri NT. When a coach only has success with a certain team, you know he's not good.

The most passive captain/vice-captain I have seen. He is not national team material.
Even in the USA, the Fox Sports analysts/commentators are having a field day with him and constantly mock him for ducking from balls.
