A new beginning. Excellent move.

Dallku wrote:De Biasi obviously has something against Meha. He probably doesn't like him because he's not a "warrior" type of player. He's lazy and besides free kicks he doesn't really do anything. On the other hand Meha is probably not ok with being on the bench. His free kicks are deadly but in the bigger picture he's not needed imo, especially against better teams when you're an underdog.

My only concern is the lack of wingers/counter attacks. You only have Roshi, Lenjani and Gashi(not a counter attacker) I know Rama has fallen badly but his skills are needed... hell even someone like Hyka could be useful off the bench. We need quick players on the wings because that's the only possible offense.
Unfortunate that Meha didn't get capped as he's playing well in Turkey but from a tactical standpoint he doesn't fit what DB is asking. We need wingers that can press & defend and attack quickly on the counter. Meha is suited for a slower paced game and doesn't have the athleticism or wilingness to defend like the other wingers. Gashi isn't a great fit but atleast he'll try defensively and is a goal poacher. Roshi may be garbage for his club team but he still has a role with the NT as he's a beast physically and give teams problems on his speed alone. He'll make for a good sub at the least.

Not sure about Hyka as he seems like a guy who's useless defensively. Something tells me that DB is going to start a fullback at one of the winger spots like he's used of doing. Aliji and Lenjani?

Norwegian win in Bulgaria is not good at all for the 3rd place race but Holland lost at home against Iceland wich is very good.

Tomorrow let's hope Georgia manage to take a point against the Scotts at home and Romania to win in Hungary.

Norway doesn't have a chance at all for best third placed team becaus they have another two games that count remaining. Playing at home against Croatia and in Italy agains Conte's minimal win/score Italy :D Hungary won't be a problem for us because Greece will win against Finland and then Hungary will lose 6 points because Greece won't be last team in rankings ;)
The most threatening ones are Scotland, Israel and Russia . Hopefully all get only one point max during next matches

Yeah a Romani win would be huge for us. I hear the two countries hate each other so that only helps us :)

As for Norway I'm not worried at all. My biggest fear is Russia. They are currently sit 3 points behind us but have remaining games at home vs. Sweden and Montenegro and away games to Lichtenstein and Moldova. Best case scenario they get 9 points and sit on 16. I'm counting on Sweden to snatch a draw on Saturday and hopefully Moldova get another draw in Chisinau. After all they drew with Russia away so they can do it again.

I don't really care about the other teams personally. Just focus on ourselves. I'd rather we qualify convincingly, rather than scraping by and end up being Skenderbeu'd in EUROS.

I know some people are going to say qualifying will give us more confidence for the next rounds, but when I see what has happened to countries like Greece that lose to semi-pro teams, all I see is an unmotivated team that crashes back to reality as soon as EUROs are done.

We already have shown we can compete with the top teams in Europe so I'm not sure how we'll get embarrassed. If anything I think we'll give some teams trouble with our physicality and aggressiveness kinda like Costa Rica in last year's WC.

On other note here are the lineups we've been fielding for the past three years in the September matches. Kinda interesting to see how the NT have evolved.

7 players swiss product
2 albanian superliga products

1 from Sweden

- All playing abroad , no oldies (except to Agolli) , no semi pros like Bulku, Lila, Vila, Dallku
I feel that Agolli will retire from the NT after this qualification cycle , some people make jokes about Dallku but he was the MAN with guts saying openly to the coach and Fa that it was time for turnover and his time was done unlike some players like Duro, Skela and Bulku that kept pushing the fa to call them
