With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

Very surprised Serbia are even money favorites to beat Albania in Tirana. They are bigger favorites now than they were in 2015 when they had a golden generation on paper and Albania was even weaker. (and they still won 0-2).
Albania was ranked 32nd in the world going into the matchup in 2015!
Albanian Vlahovic, big, physical guy, left foot, absolutely on fire in the league Uzuni is struggling in!
No questions at all about him in the presser..?
Journalists in attendance are too worried about whether Iniesta will be driving the bus, passing out the water, or playing the mascot during CL final..
Juljan Shehu back while HNL winner Selahi stays getting snubbed.. head scratcher!
Let’s go Hoxha, Manaj, Broja up top again and see if they can pull off a miracle! Decent size, pace and a bit of charisma.. We can’t do much better than that..
Switch Sadiku for Balaj and this is the team that started our first EURO match ever!
We had great “plug and play” depth guys too like Lila, Djimsiti, Cikalleshi, Basha, Kace, etc..
Hysaj in his prime! Berisha in his prime!
Out of the guys now, only an inform Broja could possibly start on this team depending on the match up.
Djimsiti would not start over Mavraj, our best defender ever! I guess Djimsiti could theoretically start over an aging Cana but it’s tough to leave out that leadership and toughness!
Nobody else of the current group could even sniff that formation!
Albania was coming off of wins against Portugal and France, 2 draws against Denmark, and a draw at France as we got ready to host Serbia in 2015!
Nobody else of the current group could even sniff that formation!
That's nostalgia talking.
Some key players of that team played in Azerbaijan, relegation Greece, mid table Switzerland, Turkish 2nd division...
Even when the NT helped them upgrade clubs they still failed miserably (Ajeti at Torino, Lenjani in France, Sadiku in Spain, etc) They were not good players. It's ok to admit it.
The players now are better individually but only individually. The collective game is still lacking and maybe even more than before.
I'm glad to see Sherri in the lineup. He had a decent showing against Napoli, but it wasn't easy given it was a title winning match for them at home and Cagliari basically folded and didn't even try.
Still not 100% convinced by him, because he makes some awkward moves, but it's nice knowing we have another keeper who's played in Serie A. Plus he's almost 2m tall, which is a huge plus for keepers.

Albania had a stronger team in 2015, IMO only Broja and maybe Gjimshiti could start for that team.
Comparison to the team that played against Serbia:
Hysaj = Hysaj
Ismajli > Cana
Current Djimsiti > That version ... like light years better
Mitaj > Agolli
Laci < Memushaj.. I think Memushaj was way better but you can argue that being equal
Asllani > Basha
Ramadani < Xhaka
Muci > Lenjani
Asani = Lila
Broja > Balaj
So talent wise this team is much better but that team had more of a warrior spirit and played their maximum potential.
Lol, forget about Muçi, Valdet Rama and Rashica couldn't make the team. Lenjani was at a different level at that time. Agolli too, he was at his peak, could defend better, shoot and cross unlike Mitaj.

Please... Lenjani's peak was St Gallen. The standards and expectations were just very low back then.
Even De Biasi himself has said multiple times that this current generation is way more talented than his.
