I thought it was awesome to have Mavraj score against the Orthodox Brotherhood. And pray right after. In your face!

It's complicated guys . Point one i don't really care and second as Zemi said "besimi eshte personal" . But people notice it, albanian atheists and christians don't really like it when our national team players celebrate or become religious promoters.
Althrough today was the funeral of Mavraj's dad .(sincere condolences to him) People could not unnotice the fact that his dad was burried with arab flag and in the funeral function there were present all the most radical wehabist Hoxhe who also were arrested not long ago by police. But i'll let it here ...
Today's Lila:

I'm just waiting when Tom Syku and Henri Prenga will be national team material . Curious to see the reactions once they start making the cross sign when scoring or entering the field

This. Some Albanians pride themselves on being religiously tolerant to the point where they become intolerant. As long as no one is hurting anyone or becomes a psychopath with their views I don't care. Just go about your own lives and stop worrying what some footballer prays to because if it was your average besnik or joe taking a photo in front of a religious building you wouldn't give a f***. Footballers often brag about their life whether it's a selfie in front of their toy cars, pictures of models they bang, their expensive clothing or their borderline homo duck face selfies but we don't care about that? It's kinda a fresh air seeing a guy like Mavraj(albeit borderline radical) just preaching love and unity like he's John Lennon and not being a selfish kunt.
I can understand where some of the christian posters(many who are agonstic/atheist) are coming from due to the players worshiping a different religion I suppose. Truthfully, If we had a ton of Albanian football players from Christian areas(like Himara, etc) that were vocal about their religion and took photos in front of churches with flags that looked semi greek I probably admit I'll be saying something along the lines like is,"that really necessary". But we need to remember just because they are religious doesn't make them any less Albanian and I actually think these very religious guys are very patriotic..
BTW, we've had catholic players and we still have. Duro, Skela, Bogdani, etc. I think Skela used to do that cross thing that someone just mentioned and I don't think anyone noticed, he was our captain too.. I guess there's less Christian players as opposed to the past due to the influx of the Kosovar based players

There's no doubt that they are patriots but they are blending patriotism and religion to the point where they are equating being a Muslim with being an Albanian nationalist, which is dangerous for our religious coexistence. I don't think the two ideologies can coexist one has to be subservient to the other and I feel that for some people Islam is becoming more important than being Albanian. That's also true for certain Christians as well, like the Catholics who prefer to marry a non-Albanian Catholic rather than an non-Catholic Albanian.Zemi wrote:Funny thing is these " muslim" players are patriotic like no other. To most Albanians who were born under Hoxha the whole idea of religion is alien and any religious displays are sneered at. Also while the Christians have basically Albanianized their religious terminology, Moslem Albanians still use Arab terminology. As much as I try to understand Albanian Moslems and their religious pursuit when I hear "Allah" instead of "Zot" and "Alham dulillah" instead of "Faleminderit o Zot" it always hurts my ears.
Also when you hear about controversies like the one about the HAaabati Tekke in Tetove and how it was taken over by Wahabis it makes you wonder who is next?

Don't understand why you guys get my posts as offensive. I'm not saying anything to offend people here , not my intention . If i did , i take it back and please acept my apologies. Take it as we are in a bar drinking some fine raki/wine and talking civilized. We're not taking the forks to each-other
Everyone has his own ideas, opinions . I'm just pointing out mine. I'm probably wrong but that's my point of view. So i'll start again , i see the national team as an institution . So making it a place where to show religion it's weird and well probably i just have to get used to... Don't care what players do in their personal life and the relation very religious=> very patriotic doesn't stand on my book. Mavraj is still the person who refused us so many times over Germany and that won't ever be deleted
By the way the "actual team" has only Armando Vajushi , Emiljano Vila (catholics) and Ergys Kaçe (orthodox) but i've never seen them making the cross althrough they post happy christmass stuff on facebook once a year. And Artan don't get me wrong but i am not pointing to the picture they made in front of the Mosque, that's an ok thing to me. I was one of the first who posted that picture with de biasi's picture in church joking about the Viking Gods and Illyrian ones. As long as they keep winning and qualifying us to the Euros i won't care if all of them start praising god after or during the match if that gives them strenght or motivation. I don't remember Skela or Bledar Kola doing the cross but i know they were very religious catholics indeed (was Duro even catholic? i'm sure i've heard him speaking in a documentary about his Elbasan early days) .
And btw i wasn't nitpicking Mavraj at the funeral, it was all over the albanian newspapers pointing it out. I just reported saying other people noticed that . By the way my dad didn't have a religious ceremony at his funeral because althrough being catholic he was the most anti-religion person i've ever meet (enver style atheist) and he asked not to.
