Kosova National Team [General topic]

With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

I did not even know Mustafi was eligible to play for Kosovo. Isn't his family from Macedonia?

What a great Day for the Albanian football and Kosova's domestic football. It should be interesting watching their teams play in Europe :D

If Shaqiri and co had any dignity and self-respect they would abandon Switzerland right now and go play for Kosovo just because they voted AGAINST. What a sign of disrespect smh. Can you imagine if FSHF voted against?? All hell would break loose.

I think a unified league is possible by UEFA rules(not sure but Duka and Vokrri have said so..) but the logistics of making it realistic are obviously difficult. Albanian clubs don't have the resources to make these kind of trips to villages far away every week. They can barely travel small distances in Albania.

A unified NT is way out of the question. The NTs will never unite unless both states become 1 which is even more impossible. This will definitely push Kosovar players+fans out of the Albanian NT. Brotherhood and freindship will still be shown in certain situations but I think that RIVALRY will be a more prominent factor among both societies. It's a Balkan thing too.

Albania's squad: Shehi. Strakosha. Aliji. Osamani. Lila. Hysaj. Memushaj. Kace. Roshi. Cekeci. Cikalleshi. Lilaj. Sadiku. Balaj.

Kosova's squad: Ujkani. Berisha. Herdogjonaj. Xhaka. Djimsiti. Ajeti. Behrami. G. Xhaka. Hetemej. Abdi. Uysal. V. Berisha. Celina. Avdijaj. Tarashaj. B. Berisha. Januzaj. Rashica. Rama. Meha. Gashi. Lenjani. Basha. B. Berisha. Azemi.

This is quite worrying

I don't think the squad is just going to break apart from Day 1, especially considering Kosova still doesn't have the proper infrastructure yet. Although it'd be interesting to see who sticks around and how many "traitors" will switch.

Do players who want to play, have to switch directly or not?

P.S. Djimsiti is from Presheva.

The regular league format wouldn't work, but maybe they could copy the American play-off format, of West/East conferences as for hockey.

Any player from Ilirida or Lugina can play for Kosova they just have to accept the passport. So Mustafi would be allowed.

Every Albanian should play for Albania and only the spare players choose Kosova. Try and get Januzaj and co the Vetëvendosje will make the country one and it will be done. The leagues must be unified first.

I don't think that's true. Remember Albania had to set a precedent or something with UEFA using lawyers so all the Swiss players & co could come freely. Remember Basha was held up for a long time.

I think Kosova would need to take proper legal action with UEFA to allow for that happen.
