There's a genuine panic in Albania about this. Everyone who knows Rama has been surprised by the recent "patriotic" bursts. He is anything but that. Reality is we will lose soon the visa free regime and Rama is acting desperately as he knows that any leader in charge who loses the visa free regime can forget about re-election for a long time. So he is resulting in blackmailing EU with instability such as a "classic unification" as 2 nations such as ours cannot be isolated as nationalism will take over. It's his own doing thou.
Although he has done great things about image abroad, he has forgotten the inside. I personally thought that no one can top Berisha's nepotism but Rama's is in a different level as it involves criminal aspects unseen before and there's nothing he can do about it. Albania ATM is going backwards as Rama's way doesn't suit Albanians. Berisha's clan left holes for people to do something while Rama's clan has blocked everything resulting not only in lack of hope for future but actual fear of present for frivolous wrongdoings. You don't put a poor debitor in prison.

Well Rama is a less harming Cancer than Berisha and actually he is doing something. They didn't put debitors in prison , they put only the people who reinstalled the electricity without paying debts. People should understand that they have to respect the law.

There is no reasonably claim any Albanian can have for political asylum at this point. It is all BS and the west knows it.

Asylum law was actually an interest of mine back in law school. I wrote a legal article on Kosovar's claims for asylum that was published a few years back (though I had no interest in actually pursuing a career in immigration law). Anyway, that's all to say that this whole asylum dash is a complete fools errand and even the attorneys that represent these Albanian clients that seek political asylum are probably committing legal malpractice. The only colorable claim I think an Albanian can make is on the basis of sexual preference, but even that does not have very strong support as I can't recall any recent events involving violence committed against homosexuals in Albania and the government is certainly doing all it can to westernize the population on this issue.
